Amazon Launches Smart Plug Exclusively For Indian Market, To Act As Buffer Between Power Socket And Appliance

American tech giant Amazon has launched a Smart Plug. The Smart Plug is said to be developed by Amazon exclusively for the Indian market. It has a three-pin socket design. The Smart Plug has a 6A power rating. The company said that the Smart Plug has been designed with a state retention feature. The feature will ensure that appliances resume from the last state in case of a power failure. The company said that it will support most Indian appliances. It is designed especially for equipment like lamps, electric kettle, room coolers and heaters, mixers, and others. It is 46×71.3x37mm in dimension. It weighs 104 grams.

Amazon said that the Smart Plug will act as a buffer between the appliance and the power socket. It will let people use the Alexa app or Smart Speaker to switch on or off the appliance. It is compatible with Fire OS, Android, and iOS devices through the Alexa app. Amazon said that the Smart Plug is easy to set up. Open the Alexa app after connecting the Smart Plug to an outlet. Users will automatically see an option ‘new plug found’. Click on it and complete the process. It carries a price tag of INR 1,999. The Smart Plug will be available in a single white color.

Amazon said that Smart Plug is available for sale. It can be bought with an Echo Dot for INR 4,498. Echo Dot with Clock is available for INR 5,498. The company has provided on and off button on the left side of the Smart Plug. Besides, there is an LED on the front. Users can turn on and turn off the TV with a voice command if the TV set is connected to the Smart Plug. Amazon said that Smart Plug can also be used for turn on or off the mobile charger. It suggested not using the Smart Plug with heavy appliances like water geyser and air conditioning equipment. Amazon said users away from home can remotely turn on or off an appliance.
