Earlier, the video length was restricted to 15 seconds. Instagram said that it is committed to improving Reels features based on feedback received from users. The company said that it has also increased the timer from 3 seconds to 10 seconds. Besides, it has added trim and delete clips options. This will make editing videos smoother.

Instagram said that the new features will be made available to users in the coming days in countries where Reels is available. It is available on iOS and Android. The company promised to bring a lot of entertaining and creative features. Instagram is owned by Facebook. It wants to project Reels as an alternative to TikTok. TikTok is a Chinese video-sharing app. It is hugely popular among the youths because of its goofy videos, pranks, and lip-syncing among others. But it has come under the scanner of the US administration for allegedly compromising with users’ data. TikTok is facing a ban in the US while India has already banned the app citing risk to national security.

After TikTok’s ban, Instagram Reels became popular among youngsters, especially in India. The company sees this as an opportunity to feel the void by introducing interesting features. Instagram Reels is currently available in 50 countries, including the US. Instagram said that the new Reels features will be useful particularly for Indian users. Besides Instagram, several players are already in the market to absorb TikTok users. YouTube recently announced to launch Shorts in India. Shorts allows users to create videos with their smartphones. The platform lets users create 15-second videos. It is also said to be similar to TikTok.
